and Carry On |
On Saturday 13 June we attended the National Climate Emergency Rally in Sydney, with about two thousand other people. In a city of over 4 million, the turnout was deeply disappointing. Then we remembered the book we had come across five years ago when we first started this letter writing campaign. It was called Doing Democracy by Bill Moyer, and it described the 8 stages that movements for social change go through on their road to success.

In an unprecedented move, scientists are to hold an emergency summit in Copenhagen in March in a deliberate attempt to influence policy. So what can we do to step up the pressure?

Warming 2008 |
Since the global financial crisis, almost all mention of climate change has disappeared from the media. However, the reality of climate change has not disappeared. It is still the greatest threat to life on Earth, with far greater and more long-reaching impacts than the financial crisis. Join the 2008 Walk Against Warming on Saturday 15 November.

and Global Warming posted: 16th August 2007 |
Soon after the Citizens Climate Campaign began, we came across a book called Doing Democracy by Bill Moyer. It described the 8 stages that movements for social change go through on their road to success. We found this information very comforting, particularly in the early days when there was so little public awareness of global warming, and no political acceptance. more plus your responses. |
