Since the global financial crisis, almost all mention of climate change has disappeared from the media. However, the reality of climate change has not disappeared. Submissions Closing |
The cut-off date for submissions on the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme Green Paper is 10th September. Submissions from the public will be counted (not necessarily read) so it is important to have a big pile of them from the concerned public. With constant lobbying from mining and industry, it is important that the Government knows just how many of us are vitally concerned about climate change. more | ||

Garnaut and the Need for Grass-Roots Input posted: 8 March 2008 |
Following a Senate Estimates hearing on Friday 22 February, it became clear that the Government has no scientific basis for its 60% by 2050 emissions reduction target. Now it appears that Professor Ross Garnaut's review, which states that emissions cuts of 70% to 90% could be needed to prevent dangerous levels of climate change, is at risk of being side-lined. It will strengthen Professor Garnaut's position to have strong grass-roots 'input', so we think it is worth the small effort of signing and sending one. more | ||

Soon after the Citizens Climate Campaign began, we came across a book called Doing Democracy by Bill Moyer. It described the 8 stages that movements for social change go through on their road to success. We found this information very comforting, particularly in the early days when there was so little public awareness of global warming, and no political acceptance. more plus your responses. |
